Rio Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip Oil can be used on the skin as long as the skin is intact with no open wounds. The oil is neutral and may help to reduce pain. Avoid products that contain hyaluronic acid; although hyaluronic acid can help hydrate the skin, it is acidic and can be painful on tight thin skin following a scald.

What is the source of the vitamin E used in the Rio Rosa Mosqueta Day & Night Cream and is that source gluten-free?
The source of the vitamin E used in Rio Rosa Mosqueta Day & Night Cream is (Non-GMO) soy oil and it is gluten-free. Many other branded products use wheatgerm oil which may be refined in a way that removes most/almost all gluten proteins but individuals with coeliac disease may wish to remove the possibility of risk.

Which products would you recommend for dry, irritated skin?

The Rio Rosa Mosqueta skincare range is suitable for all skin types. It is a ‘No Nasties’ range so you will not be adding to toxin levels via skincare.

Skin issues are, however, often an indication of something internal and, since a variety of factors may be involved it would be best to speak with a nutritional therapist or naturopath who can take a full medical history and discuss diet and lifestyle with you. The skin is one avenue for detoxification and ensuring you promote healthy detoxification may be one thing to look at.

We recommend you ensure you are well hydrated (via drinking filtered water) and consider using Green Magma which is an excellent nutritive source of chlorophyll.  The epigenar® Parent Essential Oil: Blackcurrant Seed Oil capsules are also good for ensuring a balance of omega-3 and omega-6—both important for skin health.  Other products in our ranges may also benefit but you need specific individual advice from a healthcare practitioner to know which might be most beneficial for you.

The Rio Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip Seed Oil has a tocopherol-rich natural extract which is an antioxidant mixture of alpha-, beta-, gamma- and delta-tocopherols.  This is added to keep the oil fresh.

The vitamin E added to the Rio Rosa Mosqueta Pure Chilean Rosehip Seed Oil is a tocopherol-rich natural extract. Per 10 grams of oil, there is 2 IU of vitamin E added.

Can the Rio Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip Seed Oil help with sore cracks at the corner of the mouth and dry/cracked lips?

There are several vitamin deficiencies which associate with these types of sore cracks near the mouth.  It may be worth contacting a health practitioner for assessment. Excessive amounts of vitamin A may also cause dry/cracked lips.  The Rio Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip Seed Oil can be used on the exterior part of the lips however, should not be used on open wounds. 

For internal use, consider using epigenar® Parent Essential Oil: Blackcurrant Seed Oil capsules which provide omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to nourish the skin from within.

Are there any nut oils present in your Rio Rosa Mosqueta products?
All ingredients are listed on the website for each product. Some products include macadamia nut oil.  Technically both Shea butter and Argan oil are nut oils but these are not commonly considered allergenic.

Can Rio Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip Seed Oil be used on the hair?
Yes, the Rio Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip Seed Oil can be used on the hair.  Most often it would be kept on for a period (e.g. overnight) before being washed out.  Please remember to protect bed linen and pyjamas as most natural oils, including Rosehip Seed Oil, can stain.

I need skincare products without added fragrance. Does the Rio Rosa Mosqueta skincare range have added fragrance?

All the Rio Rosa Mosqueta products (excluding the Antioxidant Facial Oil) are free from added fragrances. This is intentional so that these can be used on all types of skin, including sensitive skin. Some products may have a fragrance but that would be due to the natural fragrance from one or more of the ingredients used for some other purpose (moisturising, protecting, etc).  

The Rio Rosa Mosqueta Antioxidant Facial Oil product has added fragrance with 100% natural essential oils of Rose Geranium and Lavender only.

The Rio Rosa Mosqueta range includes a Day & Night Cream which is fragrance-free like the Rio Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip Seed Oil.

Animal Testing

Rio Health are against animal testing and this is high on our list of priorities with all the products we produce and distribute. When we developed the Rio Rosa Mosqueta products, animal testing was not used. When selecting ingredients, we use, whenever possible, herbal ingredients from organic farming when possible.  Ingredients used in Rio Rosa Mosqueta products are animal cruelty free and are not derived from animals so all products are suitable for vegans.

What is tocopheryl acetate which is listed as an ingredient in Rio Rosa Mosqueta Day & Night Cream?

Tocopheryl acetate is a form of vitamin E which is an active ingredient in this product. The tocopheryl acetate in Rio Rosa Mosqueta Day & Night Cream is d-alpha tocopheryl acetate and is of natural origin—from non-GMO soy, sunflower and rapeseed oil.

Does Rio Rosa Mosqueta Rosehip Oil have a smell or aroma?

The product has a normal, oil-like smell. It is not a rose-scent as it is the rosehips that are used to produce the oil, not the flowers. All natural oils have a shelf life (indicated by the symbol on the packaging) which indicates how long the product can be used once opened. After this period, or if the product is not stored properly (in a cool environment, away from light and humidity), it may take on an off-smell in which case it should be discarded and replaced with a new bottle.
