Rio Health Drops of Wellness
  • Tincture of Peruvian-grown Lepidium meyenii root (mixed red and black roots) aka Maca and as ‘Peruvian Ginseng’
  • Minimum Dry Herb Potency Ratio 1:3
  • Dropper for easy dispensing

Maca (Lepidium meyenii), known as ‘Peruvian Ginseng’ for its similarity to Asiatic ginseng, is a root vegetable that is grown at altitudes of over 10,000 feet above sea level in the harsh terrain of the Peruvian Andes where the soil is extremely rich in minerals.  The cultivation of Maca can be traced back thousands of years, being an integral part of the diet and commerce of the high Andes region of Peru.  Maca was domesticated by the Incas, and primitive cultivars of Maca have been found in archaeological sites dating as far back as 1600 B.C.

Each 3ml (60 drops) recommended daily dosage contains:  Maca red/black root alcohol water extract which is the equivalent of 1000mg Maca red/black root.

Ingredients: Pure Cane Alcohol, Osmotic Water, Maca (Lepidium meyenii) black/red root (50% black Maca, 50% red Maca) from Peru.

Minimum Dry Herb Potency Ratio: 1:3

Contents: 30 ml

Alcohol content: 55 Vol.%

Food Supplement—Botanical Tincture

Suggested Adult (age 16+ years) Use: 60 drops, 2 times daily in 120ml (4 oz.) of water. We recommend starting with a lower dose of 15 drops, and when needed move up to the 60 drops, unless otherwise advised by your practitioner. Maximum 120 drops per day.

For children aged from 12 (post-puberty), 3 times daily, give one drop per number of years of age.

The Rio Health range, new in 2020, is a range of 25 tinctures of mainly South American botanicals. Each is a 1:3 tincture using 55% alcohol, provided in glass bottles with calibrated dropper for easy dispensing. Most of the plants are grown in Peru where they are ecologically wildcrafted.

Unlike tablets and capsules which need to be broken down by the digestive system, tinctures absorb readily by the body. No excipients are needed so each tincture contains only water, alcohol and the botanical ingredient(s). Tinctures also readily permit easy titration (increasing of dose slowly upward), which is an important consideration for adults and children alike.

Note that Rio Health tinctures likely can be used at lower dose (number of drops) than some other brands, and are competitively priced.
