Rio Health Manayupa-P’nella is a 50-50 blend of Desmodium molliculum (Manayupa or Burbur) and Pimpinella anisum (Anise). Desmodium molliculum is a perennial plant indigenous to many tropical countries where it grows weed-like along roadsides, in open forests and pastures. In Peru it is known as ‘Manayupa’ or ‘pata de perro’, in Brazil as ‘Amor Seco’, and is also referred to as ‘Burbur’, ‘Mundubirana’ and ‘Tick-Clover’. Used traditionally by Amazonian tribes for centuries, Manayupa remains popular for use throughout South and Central America. It is also used in parts of Africa. Commonly known as Anise, Pimpinella anisum, is a flowering plant that is native to the Mediterranean and Asia.
Each 1ml (20 drops) recommended daily dosage contains: Manayupa/Anise alcohol water extract which is the equivalent of 167 mg Manayupa leaves/stems and 167 mg Anise leaves/stems.
Ingredients: Pure Cane Alcohol, Osmotic Water, Manayupa (Desmodium molliculum) leaves/stems (50%) from Peru, Anise (Pimpinella anisum) leaves/stems (50%) from Peru.
Minimum Dry Herb Potency Ratio: 1:3
Contents: 60 ml
Alcohol content: 55 Vol.%
Food Supplement—Botanical Tincture
Suggested Adult (age 16+ years) Use: 10-15 drops, 2 to 6 times daily in 120ml (4 oz.) of water, as required, unless otherwise advised by your practitioner. Maximum 100 drops per day.
For children aged from 4 (size/weight to be considered), 3 times daily, give one drop per number of years of age (max 10 drops). Anise is not generally recommended for long term use by children.
The Rio Health range, new in 2020, is a range of 25 tinctures of mainly South American botanicals. Each is a 1:3 tincture using 55% alcohol, provided in glass bottles with calibrated dropper for easy dispensing. Most of the plants are grown in Peru where they are ecologically wildcrafted.
Unlike tablets and capsules which need to be broken down by the digestive system, tinctures absorb readily by the body. No excipients are needed so each tincture contains only water, alcohol and the botanical ingredient(s). Tinctures also readily permit easy titration (increasing of dose slowly upward), which is an important consideration for adults and children alike.
Note that Rio Health tinctures likely can be used at lower dose (number of drops) than some other brands, and are competitively priced.
